Summer Skincare 101 : Personalised Skin Care Products

Summer Skin

Summer is the season to kick back, relax, and just enjoy being outside, but it’s definitely not the time to slack on your skincare routine. Sun is strong all year long, but never stronger than in summer when our exposure levels are higher thanks to spending free days at the beach or in the park.

That’s why it’s important to focus on our skin care routine – to keep it moisturized as much as possible and protected from the sun. It can be tough to know where to start when switching over your products for a new season, so check out our Summer Skincare 101 tips for keeping skin healthy during the summer.

Give Great Importance to Your Skincare

Summer months warrant a special skin care routine and light makeup, so it’s important to take a good care of our skin first (removing make up with suitable cleanser –before we apply beauty products. The products based on water make your face super fresh and hydrated after an afternoon in the sun.

Make Sure to Use Lightweight Products

The thick creams you were using through the winter months won’t do you any good now. Pack them away or use them for very dry areas of your body like the feet.  Summer months need products that let your skin breathe naturally. Go for lighter lotions, creams and serums. Products that block pores can cause more problems than good.

Moisturize with SPF

This should be done year round, but especially in summer. With the onset of warmer weather, consider switching your current favorite for another with higher SPF and lighter foundation to prevent sun spots, and early signs of aging.

Use a Cleanser with Salicylic or Glycolic acid.

This is for the combo/oily skin types out there. These acids help loosen dead skin cells to promote cell turnover, in effect helping shed damage while keeping the complexion clean to prevent future breakouts. Ignore this tip if you have dry, combo/dry and/or sensitive skin and opt for one of our gentle cream soaps instead.

Eating Healthy Foods Equals Healthy Skin

While a salad is no substitute for sunblock certain healthy foods can add inner protection again wrinkles and sunburn.  Studies say that citrus foods containing limonene and certain red, yellow and orange foods – particularly tomatoes, red apples and carrots – help keep your skin from, well, turning red. Not only can daily lycopene and carotenoids help reduce sunburn intensity, it produces more skin firming collagen. Boost your block by eating foods containing antioxidants that stop damage to skin cells. Y

Don’t Forget Eye Cream and Lip Protection.

Too much exposure to the sun will gradually thin skin and cause wrinkles. Protect the delicate areas of your face with appropriate creams and balms.

Stay Hydrated

Drink water throughout the day. If you’re on the go, bring a water bottle and container of fresh fruit to prevent dehydration.  They say that the best tool for an even summer skin tone is already in your fridge and fruits that are high on water hydrate your skin.

You can even cut a strawberry, poke at the flesh to awaken juices and swipe it across your face in small circles. Have you tried that already? Also, lemon and tomato are very good to keep your skin fresh.

Cool off with a Mist

When it’s super hot outside and nothing else help-keep a bottle of a face mist in your bag so you can mist your face any time of the day.
